A group of Old Paradians - amongst them David Beck pictured above and Jon Ellks pictured below - have graciously given back to the College by volunteering their services to Parade’s ‘Our Local World of Work’ project.
The project, recently completed by Year 11 VCAL students,
involved groups of students interviewing the Old Paradians about the
respective businesses/organizations
they either own or manage. The students then prepared powerpoint
presentations of their findings, which were screened to a total of 27
interviewees
over a three-day period.
“This was an opportunity for our students to learn more of the world of work, the journey of their interviewee and undertake a challenging oral presentation,” Parade College Director Pathways Education and Old Paradians’ Association committeeman John Nicholls said.
“We have been blessed with the support of Old Paradians who have volunteered to be a part of the project.”
The following Old Paradians were involved in the ‘Our Local World of Work’ project - David Aussems (1984) Audi; David Beck (1984) Beck’s Bedding; John Doherty (1984) Smart Start Interlocks; Paul Doherty (1982 ) Doherty’ Drainage; Jonathon Ellks (1984) Victoria Police; Ted Flynn (1981) Precision Speciality Tooling; Wayne Grogan ( 1983) O’Briens Plumbing; Andy Kuppe (1983) Parade College; Dale McCann (1979) Omni-Care; and Paul Zappa (1986) Respect Australia.
