PARADE COLLEGE

I recently had the pleasure of meeting the owners of Australia’s latest track sprinting champion horse, making its mark overseas.

After receiving a tip that Old Paradians were the owner and breeder of King Charles III, Stakes winning mare Asfoora at Royal Ascot, I did a bit of research to discover the Parade connection. With the help of long-time horse-racing enthusiast and former staff member John Joss, Radio RSN’s own Daniel Harford (1994) and Royal Ascot regular Dale McCann (1978) we were able to discover the connection.

Noor Elaine Farm Pty Ltd owners Akram (1975) (Adonis Farry), Danny (1978PY) (Daniel Farry) and Moses (1976) El-Fahkri (Morris Farry) were all schooled at Parade Bundoora and Alphington in the mid-1970s. College records however have the brothers under a different surname for the simple reason that their parents felt their surname, El-Fahkri sounded too much like a swear word! This resulted in the anglicised Farry being used as the surname whilst the boys were at school.

Akram has a busy and successful accounting business and Danny owns the Grandview Hotel in Fairfield among other business interests.

The boys are looking forward to Asfoora continuing her European racing campaign leading to the famous Breeders Cup in the iconic racing venue, Del Mar, San Diego.
