PARADE COLLEGE

What has become an annual presentation, the Old Paradians' Association invite the Principal to speak to the guests at the November lunch. This year, Principal Mark Aiello (1990) gave a an interesting, detailed and well received presentation updating guests on current College matters. Pat Mount again did an excellent job together with Keith Sharkey and Peter Johnson (1973) who provided all the arrangements.

Mark had a PowerPoint of slides highlighting a range of current College developments. Some of these included:

  • The College has 1940 students across 2 campuses. In 2025 enrolments expected at 1970. Bundoora is a Yr 7-12 campus, and we run our VCE program there. Our Preston campus is a Yr 10-12 campus, with a focus on the applied learning pathway. Previously known as the VCAL program, the new term is the VCE Vocational Major program.
  • The College has 290 full-time and part-time staff, and if we include our casual staff, who support our additional programs and curricular activities, our staffing numbers hit 350.
  • The College is one of the largest VET training provider of any school in the north. Some of these partnerships are with La Trobe University, EPL soccer club Manchester City, Melbourne City Soccer Club, and the U18 Northern Knights AFL program.
  • The College has developed a Tertiary Pathways Program. Through our partnership with La Trobe University, we are able to deliver two Tertiary Pathway programs that provide our students with direct entry access to La Trobe University, following Yr 12, without the need to sit VCE exams. They are the Sport Academy and Business Academy programs which run at Yr 11 and 12. From 2025 these pathways will be accessible to female students to enrol full time at the College at the Preston campus.

The Parade College Foundation and the College have been working on something that will shape the future of Parade for generations to come. It is in the process of introducing a Major Donor and Bequest Club—fondly named the "Old Bluestone Pile Club." This initiative pays homage to our beloved Bluestone Pile building in East Melbourne - a cornerstone of Parade’s rich heritage. Through this club, The College aims to connect with generous individuals who share our passion for the College’s future and wish to leave a lasting legacy.
