The first OPA RACV Luncheon for 2024 took place on 14 February. Pat Mount (1963) was our Master of Ceremonies and his brother John Mount (1962) was our keynote speaker.
The focus of John’s presentation was to give the audience an interesting and thought-provoking insight into some of the challenges facing education today. John spent his career in education having taught at Parade College but spent much of his career as a respected teacher and leader at St Kevin's College. We thank John for the significant wisdom and experience for the insights and reflections he presented.
I spoke to the audience and gave an update on the OPA's activities and events including our Reunions Program, plans for significant OPA Awards this year, the OPA Bike Ride & College Open Day, the Parade College Foundation, and the Old Paradians Football Club.
I
also announced plans for inviting all past living OPA
Presidents, including Lance Phillips (1945), Bruce Mansfield (1973), Peter Johnson (1973), and Paul Shannon (1985), to the June RACV Luncheon. We also intend to present
Outstanding Service and Community Service Awards in the coming months.
