Peter Helliar graduated from Parade College in 1993 as Vice Captain of the College.
At school, Peter was a member of the Prefect team and Captain of the College’s 2ndXV111 Football Team. Following four years behind his brother Mark, (1989) from St. Damian’s, Bundoora, Peter possessed an affable and self-deprecating manner which afforded him much respect and popularity. He participated fully in the academic and sporting life of the college but it was his capacity to write and amuse with witty observations and perform popular satirical skits in school assemblies that alluded to a possible future direction in the performing arts.
Fast forward thirty years and Peter Helliar is a respected, well-known comedian, performer, actor, writer, producer, director, television and radio presenter, podcaster and successful children’s author. He is an elite member of the Australian comedy circuit and has been resilient and prolific in the numerous shows he has written and performed at home and overseas, to great acclaim.
His body of work is substantial and boasts many creative incarnations that have enjoyed much audience success. In 2024 thus far, aside from his regular television appearances and podcasts, Peter has written and performed his lauded comedy show ‘Gives Zero Flips’; accepted the role of Melbourne’s Moomba Monarch; performed as the Narrator in the iconic ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’; completed Season 3 of television’s The Taskmaster; and recently competed in The Amazing Race, Australia, with courageous wife Bridget, traversing continents at breakneck pace. He is presently facing a celebrated national tour of the acclaimed Tony Award-winning Disney production, Peter and The Starcatcher, to be performed at all major Australian state theatres.
The Parade Hall of Fame proudly welcomes and celebrates the creatively talented and worthy recipient, Peter Helliar.
